Wednesday 29th July - Monday 31st August (Sunday - Friday) - Spectacular Summer Jousting Shows & Medieval Village

Witness Spectacular Summer Jousting Shows as the Knights of Lulworth return for battle. See dramatic sword fights, jousting and daredevil horseback stunts take place in front of the Castle. The effervescent and hugely entertaining Fiery Jack will be wowing crowds with his juggling show and the medieval village will set up camp in the Castle grounds for you to wander and wonder at 14th and 15th century England.

Do you have a favourite image of a day spent in Lulworth? Is there a special view that sums up the outstanding beauty of the area to you? If so, capture the image on camera and enter the 'Focus on Lulworth' photographic competition.

We have teamed up with the Dorset magazine to invite entries from amateur photographers which celebrate life in, or the scenery of, the beautiful and diverse landscape of Lulworth, inspired by the theme 'Focus on Lulworth'. From the geological wonders of the Jurassic Coast to the tranquil countryside and abundant wildlife, picturesque cottages or the splendour of Lulworth Castle, your entry could be your favourite holiday snapshot, an event, people, places or flora and fauna of the area. The images must be taken on the Lulworth Estate, which includes the coast from White Nothe to Arish Mell, West Chaldon, Chaldon Herring, East and West Lulworth, Coombe Keynes and Winfrith Newburgh.

Lulworth Castle celebrates 400 Years!

Lulworth Castle recently celebrated its 400 th anniversary with an evening reception hosted by Wilfrid and Sally Weld, the owners of the Castle. Speaking about the history of the Castle, Wilfrid Weld said ?The Hunting Lodge was originally built for entertaining and to encourage King James I to visit. We are delighted that 400 years later the Castle is still a wonderful setting for entertaining.?

The international attendance of guests included friends and family from Ireland , America , as well as the UK , were entertained in sumptuous ancestral surroundings. The celebrations began with an evening reception followed by Beating the Retreat, performed by the band of the Royal Signals Regiment based at Blandford Camp. The highlight of the evening was a dinner for over a 100 members of the Weld family hosted by Mr and Mrs Weld.
